Driveway Gates

Updated: Oct 5

Beautiful driveway gates for your home.
Some of the questions you might search for when looking for new gates:
•What is the average cost of installing a driveway gate? We can recommend an independent gate installer who can quote separately for gate installation based on your requirements. Our guy covers a wide area and is very knowledgeable on up to date equipment and all the add ons.
•Do I need planning permission for a driveway gate? You usually do not need approval if you replace an old gate with one of the same height and in the same spot.
Also you generally do not need planning permission for driveway gates if they stay within specific height limits and your property has standard permitted development rights.
Gates can be up to 2m high if they are away from a public highway.
•How much does a driveway gate cost in the UK? Take a look through our extensive driveway gates range, we offer traditional and modern gate designs in hardwood and softwood options. Choose your desired height and width then select your timber choice and the price for this size will come up.
•Which driveway gate is best?
You may be considering hardwood options and wonder if iroko or sapele is best. Both are very durable hardwoods, iroko has shades of varied golden browns and sapele has more of a reddish blush and has more consistent tones.
Sapele can be painted - we recommend an aluminium primer first followed by bedec barn paint. This is a service we offer.
Both timbers can be oiled - we offer this service with either x3 coats of teak oil over x 3 days and we also offer a uv protective treatment using x2 coats of osmo oil applied.
Alternatively you may prefer softwood gates which need to be treated with a weatherproof treatment such as bedec barn paint. Barretine wood stain also works well with this Scandinavian redwood timber. This timber choice in available in substantial 70mm timber thickness or a more lightweight option of 45mm thick.
