Barrettine Wood Protective Treatment acts as a translucent or colored wood stain and sealer. It is an oil- and spirit-based product that penetrates the wood grain, leaving a transparent or translucent colored finish (available in clear and options like dark brown, golden brown, or holly green) while keeping the natural wood texture and grain visible.
Color and Finish: Contains UV-fade-resistant pigments that color the wood like a traditional stain, drying to a matte or satin finish.
Water Repellency: Features built-in water-repellent resins that cause water to bead on the surface.
Surface Protection: Includes a film biocide to prevent surface mould and algae growth.
The Base Coat (Essential): Applying two liberal coats of Barrettine Premier Wood Preserver (or their Premier Universal Preserver). This penetrates deep into the raw redwood fibres to chemically safeguard the timber against wet rot, decay, and boring insects.
The Top Coat: Once dry, we apply Barrettine Wood Protective Treatment over the top. This adds a wax-enriched, highly water-repellent layer that seals the wood and provides strong UV-fade resistance.
